Beyond the Line Art Classes

The Beyond the Line Series art classes are distilled to their essence and delivered online by Ian de Souza in the comfort of your own home. Four life poses are included for practice and the video can be paused at any time to take advantage of studio scenes.

There are no short cuts - with practice comes competence and the simple exercises demonstrated here will consolidate your skill as you work towards your own unique style.

Ian de Souza is an exhibiting artist and art educator with nearly 40 years experience. Born in West Malaysia, he was educated in Singapore before traveling to Australia to further his studies. Life drawing remains an essential element to a lively art practice and he believes that the creative spirit knows no bounds when the fear of the end result is overcome.

The release of creativity can have a positive impact on many areas of life. Beyond the Line emphasizes that making art is less about replicating the natural world and more about responding to and interpreting it.

Awareness of boundaries, perspective, and balance, finding the essence are marvelous metaphors for everyday life.
